About Pearl Sober House

Pearl Sober House is sober living for men in Springfield, Massachusetts, an 11-bed house on Pearl Street in a walkable area close to a market, a park and a school zone. Baystate Medical Center on Chestnut Street is about eight minutes away on foot, a CVS on State Street about the same, and the bus station on Frank B. Murray Street roughly a ten-minute walk. Cars go in a closed-off back driveway or on the street. Laundry is in the basement, and the kitchen is fully equipped.

Recovery Housing Initiative describes Pearl as structured but also independent: men are held to respect and accountability while giving themselves some grace. Cameras are placed in the house for residents' safety, and the operator stays closely involved with support. The weekly house meeting time is set by the operator and shared at move-in; curfew is 10pm on weeknights and 11pm on weekends. Other Springfield options from the same operator are Matt's Place Sober House and Prospect Men's Home for men, along with Rose Sober House for women.

MassHire Springfield Career Center on Liberty Street is about half a mile, around 10 minutes on foot. Clinical and outpatient services

Behavioral Health Network runs its WellBeing Centers in Springfield. They offer same-day care, extended hours and crisis assessment around the clock, in English and Spanish. Baystate Medical Center on Chestnut Street is open 24 hours and has the region's only Level 1 trauma center, along with an adult psychiatric unit.

Peer support and fellowship groups

Western Mass Intergroup of Alcoholics Anonymous keeps the regional AA meeting list. It covers in-person, online and Spanish-language meetings, and a hotline connects callers with a member. The Western Mass Area of Narcotics Anonymous publishes a separate list that includes Springfield groups, and its helpline is 1-866-NA-HELP-U.

Ways to Pay for Sober Living in Springfield

Most guests pay for sober living themselves, weekly or monthly. Rent is not currently covered by insurance or state subsidy. There are still more ways to cover it than most people expect, and the three below are the ones that come up most often. If money is the only thing standing between you and a bed, say so on the application. We would rather have that conversation than lose you to it.

Private Pay

Paying yourself is the most common route. Rent is all-inclusive: utilities, WiFi, laundry and urine screening all come out of the weekly rate, so there is no second bill to plan around. Most guests cover it from wages, and the house schedule is built to make that possible.

Family Support

Families often cover the first few weeks while a guest gets back to work. That is a normal way to start, and nobody here will treat it as unusual. A parent, partner or sibling can pay the deposit and rent directly, and we will walk them through the house rules, the schedule, and what to expect in the first month.

One thing to be clear about: the agreement is with the guest, not with the family.

Grants & Scholarships

Some states fund recovery housing directly, through scholarships, bed subsidies, or reentry grants run by state agencies and nonprofits. The money is limited and the programs change, so ask early instead of assuming there is nothing. Put it on your application if you need help with funding.
