Elonzo Stroud runs the house with one aim: men in recovery supporting each other, making healthy decisions and building the skills for independent living. With that many guests, there is always someone further along, and newer men are expected to lean on them.
The first month has the tightest structure. Curfew is 10 PM for the first 30 days, then moves to midnight. The house meeting is on Sundays, and a House Mentor lives in the home. Testing at the Kannapolis house is random. Guests can get help with resumes, job placement, case management, recovery coaching and aftercare, and the train makes jobs and meetings across the Charlotte area reachable without a car.

For hospital care, Atrium Health Cabarrus on Church Street North in Concord has 24-hour emergency services. Daymark Recovery Services runs its Cabarrus Center on Executive Park Drive in Concord, with walk-in assessments, substance use intensive outpatient treatment and medication-assisted treatment. Cabarrus Health Alliance, the county public health agency, offers family medicine, dental care and a harm reduction program at its Kannapolis building.
Community and quality of life
Rider Transit runs color-coded public bus routes for Concord and Kannapolis, and riders can track buses live in the CK Rider app. Its customer line is 704-920-7433. Kannapolis Parks and Recreation runs several city parks, including Village Park on West C Street, about a mile from the house.
Peer support and fellowship groups
The Charlotte-based Metrolina Intergroup includes Kannapolis, Concord and Harrisburg on its AA meeting list; its hotline at 704-332-4387 never closes. Kannapolis NA meetings are organized by the Central Piedmont Area of the Carolina Region of Narcotics Anonymous, whose schedule also covers Concord, Salisbury and Albemarle. Ways to Pay for Sober Living in Kannapolis

Families often cover the first few weeks while a guest gets back to work. That is a normal way to start, and nobody here will treat it as unusual. A parent, partner or sibling can pay the deposit and rent directly, and we will walk them through the house rules, the schedule, and what to expect in the first month.
One thing to be clear about: the agreement is with the guest, not with the family.

Some states fund recovery housing directly, through scholarships, bed subsidies, or reentry grants run by state agencies and nonprofits. The money is limited and the programs change, so ask early instead of assuming there is nothing. Put it on your application if you need help with funding.
