The Herren Project: Sober Living Scholarships & Recovery Coaching
For individuals leaving addiction treatment, the days and weeks that follow can be some of the most vulnerable. Without the right structure, support, and resources, the risk of relapse increases significantly. That’s why programs like the Herren Project Recovery Housing Scholarship are so critical—they provide not only financial support but also emotional guidance to help individuals establish stable, substance-free lives.
At Vanderburgh Sober Living, we’re proud to spotlight organizations like the Herren Project, whose mission aligns closely with our own: supporting recovery by offering safe, supportive sober living opportunities.

Why Sober Living and Recovery Coaching Are Vital to Recovery
Transitioning from a treatment facility back to everyday life can be daunting. That’s where sober living homes and recovery coaching play an essential role in the recovery journey.
Sober living environments provide:
- A safe, substance-free space to continue recovery after treatment
- A structured daily routine that mirrors the accountability learned in rehab
- Peer support, which is invaluable in helping residents stay connected and motivated
- A chance to practice life skills and build independence while staying in a supportive setting
Recovery coaches, meanwhile, serve as mentors and advocates, helping individuals:
- Create and follow a personalized recovery plan
- Develop a strong aftercare strategy
- Navigate challenges and access community recovery resources
- Stay engaged with support groups, meetings, and sponsors
At the Herren Project, both sober living and recovery coaching are viewed as critical tools for long-term success. They’re not just about staying sober—they’re about learning to thrive in recovery.
