About Destiny Recovery Housing

Destiny serves individuals transitioning from detox, residential treatment, incarceration, or those seeking longer-term recovery stability. The homes are intentionally designed to help residents strengthen daily routines, rebuild relationships, and maintain sustainable sobriety in a safe, supportive community.
Destiny Recovery Housing emphasizes:
- Small-occupancy, upscale residences that support stability and focus
- 24/7 peer support and a recovery-centered environment
- Accountability and life-skills development for long-term independence
- Continuity of care through collaboration with treatment providers and community referral partners across Central Texas
At Destiny Safe & Sound, recovery is about more than abstinence, it’s about building a stable, purpose-driven life surrounded by supportive peers and clear expectations.
About Vanderburgh Sober Living
Vanderburgh Sober Living (VSL) exists to build peer-supported, recovery-focused communities that guide individuals toward lasting sobriety. VSL homes follow structured standards that promote accountability, growth, and healing, supported by proven systems and operator training.
Most VSL homes are operated by independent Owners/Operators, like Sherif, who bring leadership and care to their local recovery communities through the VSL Chartered Operator platform.
Structure, Accountability, and Peer Support
Destiny Recovery Housing is built on a structured model that balances clear expectations with real support. Residents are expected to actively participate in recovery while developing responsibility and stability through consistent routines.
Key expectations and house systems include:
- Curfew compliance
- Consistent recovery meeting attendance
- Shared household responsibilities
- Weekly house meetings and peer leadership
- Written resident agreements
- A progressive phase system
- Random drug and alcohol testing
To protect a safe environment for everyone, Destiny maintains a zero-tolerance policy for substance use and violence. Accountability is supported through graduated interventions such as warnings, behavior contracts, mentorship, and referrals to partner services when additional support is needed.
A Mission Built for Long-Term Stability
Destiny Recovery Housing is designed to serve a wide range of individuals who need structured support, including veterans, parents with children, older independent adults, and individuals with mental impairments who need supportive housing.
The organization’s long-term vision is focused on creating a sustainable recovery ecosystem that helps residents reach milestones like:
- Stable employment
- Family reunification
- Financial independence
- Access to long-term affordable housing
- Lasting sobriety and relapse prevention
Destiny’s approach is grounded in the belief that recovery thrives in community—and that quality housing, structure, and peer support can reduce relapse, lower incarceration, strengthen families, and create generational change.
Why It Matters
Recovery doesn’t end after detox or treatment. The transition back into everyday life is where many people need the most support: a stable place to live, accountability, positive peer influence, and a structure that supports growth.
Destiny Recovery Housing exists to meet that need in Central Texas—creating safe, consistent, recovery-focused homes where residents can rebuild step by step and move toward long-term independence.
Get Involved
If Destiny Recovery Housing’s mission resonates with you, there are many ways to support the work:
- Make a referral (treatment centers, clinicians, case managers, hospitals, probation/parole teams)
- Partner as a community resource (employment, transportation, outpatient services, MAT providers, life-skills programming)
- Support resident success through mentorship and recovery community collaboration
Together, we can strengthen the recovery ecosystem across Central Texas—one stable home and one rebuilt life at a time.
