Core Expectations for Residents
We expect residents to actively engage in their recovery and community life. Core expectations include:
Sobriety: Continuous abstinence from alcohol and non-prescribed substances.
Participation: Attendance at required house meetings, recovery meetings, and programming.
Respect: Treating peers, staff, neighbors, and property with dignity and consideration.
Personal Responsibility: Managing one’s schedule, employment/school obligations, finances, and recovery plan.
Day-to-Day Structure
Structure is essential to stability and accountability. Our homes maintain it through:
Daily Schedules: Clear expectations for wake-up times, work/school hours, meetings, and quiet hours.
Curfews: Graduated curfews based on length of stay and compliance.
House Meetings: Regular meetings for check-ins, goal-setting, and conflict resolution.
Chores: Rotating responsibilities to promote ownership and shared responsibility.
Drug & Alcohol Testing: Random and for-cause testing to support accountability and safety.
Behavior Standards That Matter Most
While all rules matter, we emphasize:
Honesty: Transparency about struggles, relapses, and rule violations.
Accountability: Owning behavior and following through on commitments.
Community Involvement: Contributing positively to the house culture and supporting peers.
Rule Compliance: Respecting house guidelines as a condition of communal living.
Balancing Accountability and Support
We aim to be firm, fair, and recovery-oriented
Progressive Consequences: Responses are proportionate and escalate only when necessary.
Coaching & Corrective Conversations: Staff address issues early through guidance and problem-solving.
Referrals & Added Support: Increased meetings, counseling, or higher levels of care when appropriate.
Clear Boundaries: Certain behaviors (e.g., violence, drug use) may result in immediate action to protect the community.
Our approach recognizes that recovery includes setbacks, but growth requires responsibility. We hold residents to standards while providing the support needed to meet them.
